PD Dr. Olaf Jahn

The Proteomics Group is a joint research unit of the Max-Planck-Institute of Experimental Medicine and the Cluster of Excellence/DFG Research Center "Nanoscale Microscopy and Molecular Physiology of the Brain" (CNMPB), and is a founding member of the local scientific network "Göttingen Proteomics Forum".

Research projects are mainly related to the field of neuroproteomics and include protein interactor screening, characterization of subcellular proteomes, and quantitative protein profiling of complex samples. The core technology of the laboratory comprises fully automated solutions for sample preparation to improve throughput and reproducibility of protein identification and quantification. Independent research of the group focuses on the structural characterization of synaptic protein complexes by photoaffinity labeling and mass spectrometry.
